What are Full Arch Dental Implants?

Our doctors at Oral Surgery Specialists of Atlanta are able to treat complex cases that require the placement of multiple dental implants. In the past these procedures have been referred to by a variety of names such as, All-on-4®, Teeth Express®, Teeth-in-a-Day, Same-Day-Teeth, or even Teeth-in-an-Hour. Today, these procedures are more accurately referred to as Full Arch Dental Implants, and they offer patients in need of multiple tooth replacement an affordable and predictable treatment plan.

Full Arch Dental Implants

Most commonly, these procedures involve the placement of 4 to 8 dental implants per jaw in order to support a screwed in set of prosthetic teeth.  These procedures are always planned and performed in conjunction with a restorative dental office or a Prosthodontist.  Even if you don’t have a general dentist or a Prosthodontist, don’t worry as our providers will gladly refer you to one of the high-quality providers we work with regularly.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Shessel and the team at Oral Surgery Specialists of Atlanta! I had a complicated implant case that required a tooth extraction during pregnancy, followed by bone and tissue grafts later.Dr. Shessel is incredibly skilled, thorough, and genuinely caring. He took the time to explain everything clearly and answer all my questions, so I never felt rushed. One detail that really stood out was how meticulous his notes were after every appointment and to my general dentist, which showed just how attentive he is. He also personally followed up after my procedures to ensure I was recovering well and that my grafts have healed wonderfully. He’s an amazing surgeon, and I’m so glad I went to him. Also, the staff is so friendly and welcoming! You can tell they pride themselves on doing things the right way, making patients feel heard, and creating an experience that is both professional and personal. That kind of care is not something you find everywhere.
I have been a patient of Dr. Drew Shessel for many years, and his care is truly exceptional. He recently performed an extraction and bone graft for me, and—as always—his skill, professionalism, and compassion were outstanding. Dr. Shessel has also completed extensive implant work for me, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with future procedures. His office is incredibly well‑run, and his longtime staff is knowledgeable, kind, and consistently excellent. I highly recommend Dr. Shessel and his team to anyone seeking top‑tier oral surgery.
Response from the owner: Debbie on behalf of the entire team here at OSSA we thank you for sharing your incredibly warm and generous review! Thank you for being such an amazing patient!
Dr. Drew Shessel, DMD performed a tooth implant on me, and he was an exemplary professional in every way, including his engaging, concerned attention to my questions and welfare and his perfect oral surgery. I highly and enthusiastically recommend him.
I was back yesterday in Dr. Shessel’s chair for a dental implant and a sinus lift. I cannot sy enough great things about him and his staff!! They are efficient and very professional, but most of as, they are extremely KIND! Thank you all for a job well done!!
I had a tooth extraction Friday to start the implant process. I was very anxious to start. Dr Aiken and his team of Sharon and Will were excellent. Really made me comfortable. The surgery was a success and there was no pain or discomfort. It was easier than I thought. Round two in 3 months.
After more than two years of anguish, setbacks, and uncertainty, Dr. Drew Shessel gave me back not just my smile—but my peace of mind.My journey to Oral Surgery Specialists of Atlanta followed a long and emotionally exhausting dental ordeal. In the fall of 2023, I fainted and fell, hitting my face and knocking my four front teeth loose. While three healed, one did not. Despite multiple attempts to save it—including a root canal and crown—the tooth ultimately failed and had to be extracted.Because this was a front tooth, visible every time I spoke or smiled, the experience was incredibly distressing. As a woman who has worked in the dental industry for over 30 years, I never imagined I would find myself in this situation. After extraction, months of healing, and wearing a flipper I absolutely hated, an implant was placed and later beautifully restored—only for the area to become infected again for reasons that were unclear.I was referred to Dr. Shessel because of his experience and willingness to attempt a very specialized approach to possibly save the implant. From the very first visit, he was honest, calm, and compassionate. He explained everything clearly, never rushed me, and never offered false hope—only the reassurance that he would do everything possible. My surgery was on January 12th. I went in fully expecting to wake up and be told the implant was gone and that I would be starting this long journey all over again. Instead, the first thing Dr. Shessel told me when I woke up was that the implant was still there, successful, and that I would be able to have it restored again in the next few weeks. I was overwhelmed with relief and gratitude.Every interaction with this office has been exceptional. The staff is professional, kind, and attentive, and Dr. Shessel’s care and bedside manner are truly outstanding. He treated me like a person, not a procedure.I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Shessel and his team. For anyone facing a complicated, emotional, or high-stakes oral surgery situation, I cannot recommend Oral Surgery Specialists of Atlanta highly enough.…Sylvia McCart
Dr. Aiken is an excellent oral surgeon. From initial consultation to extraction, it’s as smooth as it can be. Excellent chair side manner, he will even text to check on you during recovery which is pretty awesome! He does care about his patients after they leave. Highly recommend Dr.Aiken if you need an extraction or implant. He is the best of the best!Thank you Dr. Aiken!
Response from the owner: Mary, thank you so much for taking your time to leave such a nice review of your experience with our team at OSSA. We appreciated the opportunity to take care of you. Thank you for trusting us. Dr. Aiken
Undoubtedly, Dr. Aiken shines as one of the most skilled and dedicated oral surgeons in Atlanta. I consider myself fortunate to be under his care. Over the past decade, he has overseen multiple extractions and implants stemming from a jaw injury I sustained during my teenage years. When it comes to oral surgery, there’s no one else I would even contemplate. His efficient and knowledgeable staff, from the front office to the surgical assistants, ensures a seamless experience throughout the entire procedure. Dr. Aiken personally follows up after each surgery, addressing any questions and monitoring my recovery progress. I extend my heartfelt gratitude for his advice, care, and unwavering patience over the years!” 🦷👨‍⚕️
Response from the owner: Russell, thank you so much for your kind comments. We appreciate you too. 🙌🏼 Dr. Aiken
I already had 2 implants successfully placed in my mouth by other surgeons. This year, I got referred to Dr Aiken to fix my 3rd implant, which was just placed in August by another surgeon. Not only did this 3rd implant not go well, but it also created an issue for one of my other implants, which was perfectly fine. For several costly reasons, I lost confidence in my original surgeon and was overwhelmed by the loss of time, patience and money. I didn't want to rush into next steps, so I chose to pay my own money for FOUR 2nd opinions with various surgeons, before deciding to work with Dr Aiken to take both implants out of my mouth.I was in a lot of pain and still struggling to eat solid foods so I'm sure I was difficult to deal with as a customer. Overall, I found Dr Aiken and his entire team to be very organized, patient, responsive and caring as I worked through my decision. Thank goodness the surgery was completed last week and my mouth feels so much more better. Again, this was a costly lesson. But I'm very thankful for the professionalism of the Aiken OSS team.
Dr. Aiken and his entire practice are capable, welcoming and at the top of their game. I was unsure of what my next step should be re: an implant procedure I began elsewhere. Not only did Dr. Aiken give me candid, spot on advice, he referred me to a doctor who specializes in what I needed; something I never would have known without his guidance and expertise. I am truly grateful for the care I received here. I would give 10 stars if allowed.

  • Eat the foods you enjoy
Chew more naturally and return to a wider variety of foods

  • Avoid loose or removable dentures

Why Choose Full Arch Dental Implants?

When you have lost the majority of your teeth, finding a cost-effective, affordable tooth replacement option that restores both function and aesthetics to your mouth can be difficult.

Options such as removable dentures or extensive and complicated restorative dental treatment plans can be very expensive and time-consuming and may yield unpredictable results.

Fortunately, patients of Oral Surgery Specialists of Atlanta have an alternative option to mitigate these problems — Full Arch Dental Implant Solutions.

While a good deal of planning and preparation precedes the day of surgery, the entire surgical procedure can often be completed in just one office visit (with or without anesthesia options).

These treatment options allow patients to solve their functional and aesthetic problems in an ordered, predictable, and expedient process.

Finally, unlike some of the large corporate practices our patients are always partnered with a high quality dental practice which is capable of helping them to maintain their dental health long after the procedure has been completed.

How Same-Day Teeth Works

Same-day teeth allow you to leave your procedure with a full, confident smile—often in just one visit. It’s a carefully planned process designed to restore your teeth quickly while keeping you comfortable every step of the way.

Here’s a simple breakdown of how it works:

  • Consultation & Planning
We start with advanced 3D imaging to carefully evaluate your bone, gums, and overall health. This allows us to plan your treatment with precision and ensure the best possible outcome.
  • Implant Placement
On the day of your procedure, a small number of dental implants are gently placed in the jaw to serve as a strong, stable foundation for your new teeth. Your comfort is always a top priority, and sedation options are available.
  • Same-Day Temporary Teeth
In many cases, a set of custom temporary teeth is secured to the implants the same day. You’ll leave with a natural-looking smile—no gaps, no waiting without teeth.
  • Healing & Final Restoration
As your implants heal and bond with your jaw, we’ll prepare your final set of teeth, designed for long-term strength and aesthetics. Once healing is complete, your permanent restoration is placed.

Our goal is to make the process as smooth, comfortable, and predictable as possible—so you can enjoy the confidence of a full smile sooner.

Temporary vs Final Teeth

With same-day dental implants, you’ll typically receive two sets of teeth—each designed for a specific stage of your treatment.

  • Temporary Teeth (Same-Day Smile)
Placed the day of your procedure, your temporary teeth allow you to leave with a full, natural-looking smile right away. They are lighter and designed to protect your implants as you heal, while still letting you speak and smile with confidence.
  • Final Teeth (Your Long-Term Smile)
After your implants have fully healed and bonded with your jaw, your final set of teeth is placed. These are stronger, more durable, and customized for long-term function, comfort, and aesthetics—so they look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

Our oral surgeons carefully guide you through each phase to ensure a smooth transition from your temporary smile to your final, long-lasting result.

Benefits of Immediate Teeth Replacement

One of the biggest advantages of same-day dental implants is that you don’t have to go without teeth while you heal. Immediate teeth replacement allows you to leave your procedure with a complete, confident smile the very same day.

Heres what that means for you:

  • No time without teeth
You won’t have to wait weeks or months to restore your smile
  • Feel confident right away
Smile, speak, and interact comfortably from day one
  • Maintain your appearance
Helps support your facial structure and natural look
  • Easier transition into healing
Temporary teeth are designed to protect your implants while they heal
  • Return to daily life sooner
Get back to normal routines with fewer disruptions

Immediate teeth replacement is designed to make the process more comfortable, more convenient, and less stressful—so you can enjoy the benefits of a restored smile right away.

Full-Arch Dental Implant Cost & Financing

The cost of full-arch dental implants can vary based on your individual needs and the level of care required to achieve a long-lasting result. During your consultation, we’ll provide a clear, personalized treatment plan so you understand exactly what to expect.

What Affects the Cost of Dental Implants?

Several factors can influence the total investment, including:

  • The design and materials of your final teeth
  • The complexity of your case and surgical planning

If you have any questions, feel free to ask our team or oral surgeons.

Why Full-arch Implants are Different from Traditional Dentures?

Unlike removable dentures, full-arch dental implants are securely anchored in place. This means:

  • no slipping or movement
  • no adhesives
  • improved chewing ability and comfort
  • a more natural look and feel

Because of this, full-arch implants are a more advanced, long-term solution designed to restore both function and confidence.

Financing Options

We understand this is an important investment in your health and quality of life. Our team will review available financing options with you and help you find a plan that fits your needs, so treatment can be more manageable.

See our financing options here.

Long-term Value

While full-arch dental implants may have a higher upfront cost than traditional dentures, they are designed for durability, stability, and long-term success. Many patients find that the improved comfort, function, and confidence make them a worthwhile investment in their overall well-being.

Full-Arch Dental Implant FAQs

Are full-arch implants painful?

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the process is. With appropriate anesthesia and sedation options, you remain relaxed during the procedure. Afterward, any soreness is typically manageable and improves within a few days.

How long do they last?

Full-arch dental implants are designed to be a long-term solution. With proper care and regular dental visits, the implants themselves can last many years, while the final teeth are built for durability and everyday function.

How many implants are needed?

In many cases, a full arch of teeth can be supported by a small number of strategically placed implants. The exact number depends on your individual anatomy and treatment plan, which will be discussed during your consultation.

Can I eat normally?

Yes—one of the biggest benefits is the ability to return to a more natural diet. While you’ll follow some guidelines during healing, most patients are able to enjoy a wider variety of foods again once treatment is complete.

Am I too old for dental implants?

Age alone is not a limiting factor. Many patients in their 60s, 70s, and beyond successfully receive full-arch dental implants. Overall health and bone condition are more important than age.

What if I have bone loss?

Even with bone loss, you may still be a candidate. Options such as bone grafting and advanced planning techniques allow us to treat many patients who were previously told implants weren’t possible.

Are they removable?

No—full-arch dental implants are fixed in place. They are designed to stay securely in your mouth and function like natural teeth, so there’s no need to remove them.

How long is recovery?

Initial recovery is typically a few days to a week, with gradual improvement. Healing beneath the surface continues over several months as the implants bond with your jaw.

What are temporary teeth?

Temporary teeth are placed the same day or shortly after your procedure, allowing you to leave with a complete smile. They are designed to look natural while protecting your implants during healing.

How do I clean them?

Caring for full-arch implants is similar to caring for natural teeth. Daily brushing, flossing or using specialized cleaning tools, and regular dental visits help keep your implants healthy and long-lasting.
