Comprehensive Pediatric Oral Surgery Services

Children’s oral health needs can be complex, starting from the emergence of their permanent teeth around the age of 6. Whether it’s the removal of primary (baby) teeth or permanent ones, our expert oral surgeons handle each case with unmatched precision and care, focusing on minimal discomfort and promoting swift recovery.

Extractions

Starting at the age of 6 children begin to get permanent teeth in their mouth.  From time-to-time, pediatric patients will require treatment to remove either primary (baby) teeth or permanent teeth.  When a child’s teeth are severely decayed or damaged, extractions may be necessary to maintain oral health and prevent further complications. Our skilled oral surgeons perform extractions with precision and care, ensuring minimal discomfort for your child.

Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a simple surgical procedure to correct a condition where the frenulum (the tissue connecting the lips, tongue, or cheeks to the jawbone) is abnormally attached, causing speech, breathing, or feeding difficulties. Our experienced surgeons perform frenectomies using advanced techniques to improve your child’s quality of life.

Oral Pathology

From cysts and tumors to developmental abnormalities, kids often experience a unique set of pathologic conditions that are distinct from what we see in adults.  Fortunately, our doctors are well equipped to diagnose and treat various oral pathologies in pediatric patients. We prioritize early detection and intervention to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child’s oral health.

Supernumerary Teeth Removal

A supernumerary tooth, which depending on location may be referred to as a “mesiodens”, is an extra tooth that develops in addition to the normal set of permanent teeth. These additional teeth can appear anywhere in the dental arch and may require removal to allow for the proper growth and development of the normal permanent teeth.  Our surgeons at Oral Surgery Specialists of Atlanta are well trained in management and removal of these teeth.

Ensuring Comfort Through Sedation Dentistry

We recognize that undergoing oral surgery can be daunting for children, marked by anxiety or fear. To counter this, we offer a spectrum of sedation dentistry options aimed at providing a relaxed, pain-free experience. From nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to intravenous sedation when appropriate, our primary aim is to make your child comfortable and at ease during their procedure.
